Weekly Devotion 7th January 2018

It is our belief that the God-given theme for NLCC this year is “The Year of the Lord’s Increase.” It comes from the priestly blessing that is given to the people of God from psalm 115:14-15.  “May the Lord make you increase, Both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, The Maker of heaven and earth.” Here is a covenant promise of the Lord God Almighty given to His people. Our God is a faithful God, a God who keeps His promises. The Lord has His people on His mind – He has you on His mind. So fight the […]

Weekly Devotion 31st December 2017

“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances!” To some this is an easy thing to do. Things had gone well for them. But to others, circumstances around them may have been disappointing, or even discouraging; no, its been bad. To them the immediate reaction to this verse may be one of questioning and hurt, and perhaps even anger and resentment […]

Weekly Devotion 24th December 2017

For to us a child is born,     to us a son is given,     and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called     Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,     Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace     there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne     and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it     with justice and righteousness     from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty     will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7.

Weekly Devotion 17th December 2017

“She will give birth a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 To many in the western world, Christmas – if it is allowed to be mentioned and celebrated – is nothing more than just Santa Claus, Father Christmas, holidays and parties. Its festivities without much spiritual meaning. However, for us who are Christians, we who bear the […]

Weekly Devotion 10th December 2017

“. . . Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! ” John 1:29b We at NLCC call the Christmas Season the Season of Love. Why? It is so that we may deliberately remind ourselves that Jesus Christ is God’s love gift to a sinful humanity. God so loved the world that He sent His only Son into this world so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus the Christ was born […]

Weekly Devotion 26th November 2017

“But when the time fully came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, . .” Galatians 4:4 What wonderful news! This awesome announcement was made on the day when Jesus was born to Mary in the little town of Bethlehem on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Mary was engaged to Joseph of the line of David, but it was by the power of the Holy Spirit that Mary, who was a virgin, conceived and gave birth to Jesus, the promised Saviour of the world. This was the promise that God made to Adam and […]

Weekly Devotion 19th November 2017

“The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.” Psalm 103:19 We are surrounded by a world that seem to see evil as good and good as evil. We see the tyranny of a vocal aggressive minority over a quiet unassertive majority who are seemingly unaware of the  anger that threatens. We should not be surprised by such a change of cultural climate. Our Lord Jesus had warned his disciples that with the passing of years, there will be an increase of wickedness. Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. He […]

Weekly Devotion 12th November 2017

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 Our Lord Jesus said, “Only God is good.” So by the scripture’s definition, only godly people are good people! Godly people are those who live their lives by the Word of God, knowing that they are obedient to God. Their walk with God is through faith in Jesus Christ, through whom they know that their sins are forgiven, and they are born again into the […]

Weekly Devotion 5th November 2017

“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.” Habakkuk 3:18 The prophet Habakkuk reminds us to keep our focus on God and not on what is seen from the plane of human understanding. He declares that his faith in God does not rest in the circumstances around him. In the preceding verses, he had declared that nothing shall separate him from his trust in his God. Even if the fig trees do not bud, and there are no grapes on the vines, and even when the crops fail, and economic disaster threatens, […]

Weekly Devotion 29th October 2017

“And to put on the new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness .” Ephesians 4:24 The Scripture calls us to put on the new self. This new self is a wonderful new self, and nothing like the old. The new self is found by faith in the Risen Christ. We are born again into the Risen Christ. Each day we are remember who we are and by faith, to put on this new self.  How do we put on this new self that is made to be like God? It is by simply choosing […]
